There’s a certain kind of dog who doesn’t just walk into your life — he gently, quietly, patiently waits to be let in. That’s Asher.

Asher’s story began in uncertainty. For weeks, he wandered alone on a golf course, too scared to let anyone get close. We’ll never know exactly what he’s been through, but what we do know is this: Asher is ready to leave his lonely days behind.

Asher is a stunning Irish Wolfhound/Briard mix — a rare blend of two breeds known for their gentle hearts and loyal spirits. Underneath his impressive size and shaggy coat, there’s a goofy, sweet, and deeply sensitive dog who just wants to feel safe, loved, and understood.

At around three years old, Asher has made incredible progress since joining our pack at Guided By Grace Rescue. When he first arrived, trust didn’t come easily. But with time, patience, and consistency, he’s blossomed into a dog who enjoys long sniff walks, belly rubs, and the simple joy of curling up next to someone he trusts. His tongue sometimes sneaks out when he naps, and it’s these small, silly moments that remind us just how far he’s come.

He walks beautifully on a leash, travels like a pro in the car, and loves learning new things — especially if treats are involved. Asher gets along with most dogs, though he’s still a little unsure around those who come on too strong. He loves his toys, he loves getting brushed, and he absolutely loves having a person to lean on, both figuratively and literally.

Asher is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and ready to meet the person who can offer him what he’s been searching for: safety, patience, and a quiet place to belong. He’s not the dog who will rush into your arms on Day One — but give him your heart and your time, and he will give you his loyalty for life.
